Just wondering if anyone knows of a source for Romantic guitar (Stauffer, Lacote, Panormo etc.) plans. I already checked the Guild of American Lutherie site. Any other ideas? Thanks, Greg |

I've been working on my own Panormo plans. Scaled up the plantilla from photos, and have the headstock, rosette, bridge, scale, etc. I've got the bracing pattern drawn out, but there are still some dimensional questions unresolved. The Crane site looks good for the Lacote and Stauffer guitars. I've downloaded the plans and hope to build from them one day. |

The Crane plans are very good. Please note that while the plans are free, they are for non-commercial use. If you plan on building and selling a guitar built from those plans you should plan on varying the design so that it doesnt violate the spirit of providing these plans to Luthiers. I collect historic guitars and before I was able to acquire a Lacote, Fabricatore and La Prevotte I built a LaCote and La Prevotte from the Crane plans. The next guitar I would want to make from the plans is the 5 course Baroque guitar. What I did with the plans was take them to a Kinkos, now Fedex/Kinkos (a US based printing/copy shop owned by Federal Express) which had blueprint size printers and I was able to print full size plans. On the plans it states the paper size intended so you just specify the print output to be that paper size and the plans will be accurate to scale. |

I did a lot of internet searches for Panormo plans several years ago and found a set available from a luthier supplier in England. The plans were pretty good with all important details shown on two pages. The finished guitar sounds good and would have been better if more lightly built. If you do not find this supplier or another source for plans set let me know, I can try to dig through past receipts and locate the contact information. |

Yes the Panormo plan is available here from David Dyke, Luthier Supplies. I buy a lot of stuff from him. His plan is £12.00. I've done restoration work on a couple of Panormo guitars, they do sound sweet when played with some sensitivity. Panormo Colin |
