What is the material that the plastic bindings, end peices, etc are made out of? I was in a local r/c hobby shop tonight and found all kinds of white material made out of styrene. was wondering if it was the same stuff. Found tons of CA in various viscosities also! Mike |

I believe plastic binding is celluloid nitrate. Styrene's crap! Fatigues easy! Embrittles with age! It's attacked by just about every solvent there is. Poor strength! Used in model cars, airplanes, toys because it's cheap. Among the many great properties of celluloid, it will near explode when caught on fire! A Plus/Plus in my book! ![]() |

Stewmac's site wrote: ABS plastic bindings are used by Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Fender and many other manufacturers. The material adheres well to wood and to itself. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bindings,_trim/Plastic_binding/White_Plastic_Binding.html |

Details: FCA #16 Most of these can't be air shipped, so that might be a problem, depending on your location. Cheers John |

For the most part solid colors (black and white) are ABS and figured patterns are celluloid (tortoise, ivorid and pearlistic mother of toilet seat) |
