I know some of you use Z-poxy or other similar materials to fill pores. I have been using pumice and shellac, but would like try epoxy. Do you have any surface preparation tips?. Are there issues with color bleeding out of EIR onto the lines?, Should I perhaps seal the lines first with shellac?

Mark buddy when we speak of using Z-Poxy for pore filling just be sure that you are using Z-Poxy "finishing resin" and not the several other Z-Poxy varieties of epoxy glue.

Shellac will stick fine to epoxy/Z-poxy but epoxy will not stick well to shellac. So do not seal anything with shellac that you plan on filling later with epoxy.

In my experience Z-Poxy does not cause rosewood oils/colors to bleed. Just use the Z-poxy as you would use shellac to seal what needs to be sealed. Some of us will do a final 50/50 coat of Z-poxy and denatured alcohol wiped on with a lint free rag to even out color and completely seal the guitar.

Thanks Hesh - I will get the finishing epoxy and I will use it to seal all lines, binding and back/sides prior to proceeding to shellac French polish.

I'm sorry, I thought Hesh was talking about filling. I'm not finishing, I'm pore filling. I use a washcoat of dewaxed shellac, fill with old fashioned hardware store 5 minute epoxy, and when it's cured I scrape and sand back to the wood. Never saw the fill fall out of a pore.
