OK, not a luthier subject... but you guys DO know wood. I would like to find Spanish Cedar verneered plywood, 3/8" to 1/2".

Any ideas for sources?

Mike

Why?
Make your own, buy some plywood and glue Spanish cedar veneer on the faces.

Looks like 1/4" to me. Did I read it wrong? How do I calculate 4x8 prices from their data?

I really want 1/2" for dimensional stability. The reason (there are many to choose from) that I do not want to make my own is because I intend to use it in room paneling (office). Gonna experiment in the master closet first. I really like the way it smells.

For a formal room, such as an office, is there any kind of reccomended finish that will keep the wood aromatic?

Thanks all,

Mike

Without finish the smell will disappear after a while (takes a year or so in a guitar), with finish I assume right away…

You could just sand it from time to time. Eventually, I suppose, you would wear it out. It's just like cedar. When it oxidizes, it looses it's smell. You could probably find some Cedar Oil to rub it with that might refresh, or replace, the fragrance.

Well, at $80 a 4x8 (1/4"), I don't think I am going to find out!
