My very first real "customer" passed away last Sunday. I heard the news today via another friend in Florida. Jim had become a great friend and was a great part in the success of Cornerstone guitars. Solely out of his own good heart he created my logo as well as designing my whole new website from scratch....at no charge. He had put me in touch with some artists and even worked out a few deals for me. I owed him a lot and had promised himto build him is own Zion guitar....didn't have a chance...
I had become real close to him and we used to speak on the phone every week or so. He was a good man and last Sunday he was a victim to a brain aneurysm.

My heart is broken and troubled.... hear me oh Lord and ease my pain....

Peter, I am very sorry for your loss and pain his family must be going through. So sad leaving such young children. Most of us only make a handful of really close friends in a life time so your loss is indeed great. Having said that, I bet your friend did what he did for you in order to see you succeed at your craft. I will bet a whole lot that he would not want you to mourn his death but to celebrate his life through continuing to build fine instruments.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Peter,
I do understand and my condolences to you and Jim’s family. Just today I was remembering a good friend who was taken way too early through an accident. In fact, I spoke to a number of people today and added comments regarding how short life can be and how we should remember to not only balance life with living for today while planning for tomorrow but to remember that we need to enjoy and appreciate our family and friends. Here is a link to a piece of Keali’I Reichel’s “Goodbye my friend “that seems appropriate at this time. http://www.mele.com/hawaiianMP3s/2773_15.mp3It always takes these circumstances to help us remember that when we have friends and family we care for that we share a piece of ourselves with them.
When those people are taken from us we seem to lose a piece of ourselves too. The feeling of loss will diminish in time but you will always hold your friend in your heart and in your memory. I know that sounds like a sympathy card but there is a reason so many of those cards have similar salutations. They are similar because they say the truth and that is our loved ones never truly leave us but are forever in our minds and in our hearts. Again, it just helps us remember to cherish our friends and family while they are with us.

Please don’t feel any obligation to this suggestion but I do have a thought. Your could still build the guitar for your friend and present it to his family in his honor. They could cherish it forever. If you have any inlay talent or wish to give it a try I’m sure you could put his likeness on the guitar. I have seen a number of inlay produce by our talented members that gave honor to their loved ones.
Peter, best wishes and know that you are not alone in the loss of a friend and that many others understand and share your loss.

Warmest Regards,

Philip

Peter my friend I feel your pain. I also lost a dear friend a month ago. He went into the hospital for a bone marrow transplant and never came home. I saw him the day before he went in and he asked if he could come and work with me when he recovered from surgery. I promised him he could but he never made it. Losing a good friend is very painful to us but I am sure they are in a better place.
My prayers are with you Peter.

You have my condolences. I'm sorry to hear that, but I do understand. And I agree with the poster above, build it anyway. Do it for those twins, or for his spouse...but it would be a great way for you to have some closure.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Peter.

My Mom had a brain anuerysm 8 years ago, so I know how unexpected and serious they are. We are very fortunate to still have her with us today.

Always remember the great times you shared with your friend and he will always be close in your heart.

Blain

I "knew" jim myself. He almost commissioned a guitar from me on many occasions. He was a kind hearted man, and I feel horrible for his wife and daughters he leaves behind, but I'm sure he is in a better place now.
