Okay, I got the turning bug....

Anyone know where I can find, used, hopefully, a small hobby lathe? A metal working lathe, 7x10 or so would do fine. E-bay Canada has nothing, Grizzly doesn't ship north of the 49th and BusyBee went tit's up it seems.

I'll be traveling to the Ottawa area soon, but could go anywhere in Ontario or Eastern Quebec to pick one up. Any leads appreciated...

Where did you get the "Busy Bee went tips up" rumour from. I just punched up theur website and they have a Valentines special so that was just yesterday! They are still around as far as I know!

Strange, as I Googled all day yesterday and every link to them I tried was a dead link.

I'll try again, thanks!

still would love to find a used one, though.

Have you checked out Craig's List. I looked at it for the first time a couple of days ago. There's a LOT of stuff.

Good Luck!

As far as I know, it is ok to post 'wanted' ads on craigslist. I have done it, but it did not do me any good, but then again, I only did it twice. "Shot in the dark" on any one particular day of the year.
One big plus with a wanted ad, is you would get first pick. Wait for someone to offer one, and then be at the mercy of the great mini-lathe Gods as to who the lucky winner is.
I would sort of indicate that you are close to buying a new one. That way they know not to try to milk you for all you're worth.
Curious what kind of things you are going to do with a little metal lathe.
I made a list of things I need one for, but my list doesn't justify the $400.00 for a new mini lathe. I do wonder if one of those 7 x10 deals would be able to handle making a new arbor shaft for my old table saw.

Grumpy, if you have time to spare and wish to visit the Parliament buildings or something, just drop me a line...either that or we can drink copious amounts of beers... D'la bonne Molson EX, bien sûre!!!

I purchased a refurbished one from Delta a while back - it was lots cheaper than new, but looked like new.
