Hey guys....finally got back in here...Wow this is fast, no more slow refreshes....I had to re register and will not be using Lab1 anymore.....I have noticed a lot of guitars with sound ports and love the look of it....I want to try and put one in my next guitar....Any suggestions...Its looks great but does it weaken the side and is it prone to splitting in that area?...Thanks ,Larry

Larry,

Lots and lots of prior threads on sound ports. Do a search thru the archives and I'm sure that you will find lots of information. Also search on Al Carruth. He has done a lot of research on ports and the pro's and con's.

Take a look at Kevin Ryan's website for his latest design which locates the ports in the bevel.... what he calls his "Fluted Bevel." ... Very nicely done and a very original execution. It's one of those design elements where you say... "gosh, I wish I'd have thought of that."
