John, I love that Scrimshaw. What a talent. :o

Just now I finished my first fingerboard. I think it turned out ok.

For putting the radius in, I put together this little jig.

I am sure I have seen this somewhere before. It works really nice. Sanding only took 15 minutes.

I managed to get one polished up and strung up on the weekend.

And another one, I got the Bloodwood binding on and scraped.

I put one of these pantographs together. I think I'll make a few changes and look for a small chuck to hold different stylus tips.

I'm almost done with a pair of fancy dreads; one pernambuco/Adi (the one with a burst), the other has BRW/Adi. Going to the same guy!

After the stopping work on the two current builds to complete the Cocobolo wedge http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=32132 I am back to work on them. I will brace the backs and tops this week though I think the arrival of nice weather will slow me down some.

Nice work everybody!
John, that is a great job your ma did.
What did she use for coloring that?
I have a small piece of ivory,
and would like to give that a try.
It's a VERY old piece, I might add.
Anyway, I'm moving to another house right now,
so, no git-building.....
AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

Thanks. She is a talented lady. She paints, sculpts, draws, pottery, ink washes, ect.

I think she used india ink for the black and oil paints for the color.

I experimented with my lathe today and made some strap buttons just to see if I could, and was pleasantly surprised, considering I have no real turning tools, and just this antique lathe. I used some scrap spalted oak from pallet wood, and a piece of Lignum Vitae I had saved... Wonder if they'll work.
