You won't be sorry of you go with a better quality unit. Most of the Grizzly tools are made cheaply and require a lot of set up time and dialing in the performance. They have really bad quality control at Grizzly. |

Watch your local Craigslist. Barely used Performax/Jet machines tend to turn up fairly regularly and typically at a serious discount. |

Agree, I bought a Performax 16-32 off CL for $400, sold it 3 years later for $500. Worked well except I'd occasionally trip the thermal breaker on the motor and it didn't have the feed rate sensor like the newer models. The sensor is a nice addition. |

I knew the 10-20 had a bad rep for the thermal breaker. Experienced it myself. Sold it. Got the 22-44, never does that. Love that dam thing |

The breaker was a pain so I just changed it. |

My pre-Jet Performax ShopPro 25 (a non cantilevered monster) was an eBay "local pickup" item 3 hours from my home. There wasn't much of a local market for that type of sander, so I got a decent price on it. A little sprucing up and it was good as new. Better than new when I build my own dust hood for it. If there were nothing good on the used market in my area, I would just buy either a Supermax 19-38 or a Jet 1836. Those are both really nice sanders, and they are just the right size for guitar makers. |

Thanks everyone for the wisdom. I'll save my pennies for the Supermax 19-38. |

Supermax 16-32 on sale now at Woodcraft. $999, so $200 off the regular price. Not the 19-38 but a good price for a solid 16" sander. https://www.woodcraft.com/products/16-32-drum-sander |

16" is just that little bit too small... |

Had the Supermax 19-38 for 4 years now and I love it. Steve |
