I saw a picture in the archive of a classical top installed inside,rather than on the rims.
Just wondered how the linings get done or is it one dentallone at a time? do you have to hold them while the glue dries?

Yes, generally, the dentillones / tentellones are glued one at a time, with HHG or Fish Glue, and are held in place until they grip, which is only 20 - 30 seconds.
