Anyone here tried these P/A herringbone with pearl ring rosettes?

A customer brought it to me and I cant find where he got it. Ebay ? I inlayed his but would like to get a few more....???? Thought I'd ask here.

Herringbone pearl was invented by Larry Sifel at Pearlworks. I would think one source would
be Chainsaw Chuck (Chuck Erickson), the Duke of Pearl. He should carry it. Others may have it as well.

I have purchased this material from Duke of Pearl in the past. The quality is very good and it bends remarkably well using a hair blowdryer. Make sure that you also order the correct teflon strips and be prepared for the price of the pearl!

I got one like that off ebay. The seller was camvan-8801. There are a couple of similiar ones listed now with a "buy it now".

Mike listed the correct address that I could not find. That is the source for the original
herringbone pearl and I think it's the best quality. Chuck and Larry split the business into
divisions, this one listed is the retail outlet for their products. Since Larry's passing,
Frank handles any orders from retail customers and Pearlworks deals with the larger
manufacturers. Frank is good to deal with and they offer a wide range of inlay materials.
As Mike mentioned, it's not inexpensive but it is very nice stuff, a bit tricky to work with,
never tried the hair-dryer method but that sounds logical. You might be able to buy it
in specific diameters for soundholes, pre-cut so no bending is necessary. I've done this
before.

Hey Thanks for the links, I found them on ebay,
$80 , not exactly cheap, but they are complete.
With the one in the photo I had to do some serious filing and sanding to get it to fit nicely. but it was only a two beer job, I gotta get some more.

I've been looking at something like that but can't decide how I would inlay it. I guess most would just set it in a channel and epoxy around it? It would look killer inlayed into a ebony ring but a lot of work...

As a pacaged rosette this may be true but My great great grand mother left my mother a tray service made by her father, my great-great-great grandfather nearly 160 years ago that is bordered with MOP/abalone herringbone pattern. and I am quite sure, though I have no evidence in hand, it has been done may times before and sence.

While they are both from the same state, I'm not sure about that, but could be, I guess. CamVan has a business called Dominic Art Inlay, and is on the net; totally different looking website than Andy's. I've bought an eagle inlay from her.

I like that Herringbone! sweet!

This is a link to Alan Carruth's site that shows his basket weave Rosette. These is some of the nicest rosettes I have ever seen. He says it is a block and plane thing. At least the all wood basket weave is.
