First of all, I need to thank Michael Payne for all of his help. Michael has become my mentor on this project and also a good friend. He is unbelievably patient with me :D and is a really great teacher [clap] . I could never have gotten this far without his guidance.

Here are a few pics of my progress. Michael thinned and bent my sides for me. I then installed the linings which are reverse kerf spanish cedar from Bob at RCTonewood and added Bias tape to the sides. I completed the bracing on the top and back. The braces are Lutz spruce and are also from Uncle Bob. The bridge plate is riff sawn maple.

I have read many times that carving braces is an enjoyable process and I have to say that I completely agree. There is something therapeutic about it.

My goodness - it that gobar deck 8 feet tall????

It almost looks like the poles are pushing against the ceiling of your room.

No slam intended - just curious.

No that's just the angle of the picture. I think what you are seeing is the underside of the top of the deck. My tension rod's are 36" long. The deck is adjustable and it is quite a bit higher now for gluing up the back and top. I had it about 5" lower for gluing up braces. It does look a bit menacing in the picture doesn't it :D

Thanks to everyone for all of the kind words. It's a slow process, but most importantly, a fun one. I'm getting really excited about closing the box so when I show all my friends the pictures, they can start to "see" the guitar. Right now all I get from non-builders is, "Oh yeah, that's great...?" [uncle]
