Hello everyone.

I keep making my necks too chunky and could use some help. I will start by making templates off my Larrivee OM-03 but thought I could ask you guys and gals too.

Does anyone have any full size drawing of the profiles and thickness that you use? Even CAD?

I know it's a lot to ask but any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking about revisiting a couple guitars I already finished and re-carve the neck.

Thanks,
_Mike

Tracy from Luthier suppliers, and also one of our sponsors here, has neck profile templates from almost any guitar you want. You ought to try them. My student's and I use them and they really help you get the exact profile you want. They also have other information like, fretboard radius and width at the nut and 20th frets, string spacing at the nut and the bridge etc.

Robbie's suggestion is a good one. I've also found Martin's webpage very helpful in understanding the variations in neck shape.
http://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/fea ... index.html
I've actually used the images in cad, enlarging to full size (or adjusting thickness to what I want, etc.), & then doing a line drawing layer over, to create my own templates for the two stations.
Also, if you have access to a neck you really like, Mark Blanchard did a great tutorial a while ago on making a mold to record the shapes (don't have link - sorry)

Dave,

The martin link was exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks!!!

_Mt

Robbie, I have seen those too but I have soo many other tools I want to buy and figured templates could be made. I may find out that I was wrong and Tracy's place will be my first stop.
And thanks for you videos too, I have your classical guitar one and it has helped a ton!!!
